30/6: New month, new ideas, barking mad

I’m going to be creating a series of small tree images that will be packed with fun experiments with colour.

Flavour of the week has to go to the colour and texture of tree bark. I caught a glimpse of this Eucalyptus tree the other day and was blown away by the colours and has a great sense of movement in the texture.

Trees have amazing sculptural qualities.I’d love to make sculptures using different tree barks. Juxtaposing colours ant surfaces against each other brings out unreal qualities that I can’t describe. Makes me think of them as the limbs of creatures.

The tree in the thumbnail to the right was a fabulous beast. Dark brown bark in colour almost black with twists that looked gave it a very Prehistoric look.

I’m excited about creating this new series.
